Many Former Pupils have asked us to use the Internet to supplement the other, more traditional, ways in which we communicate with you. In April 2003 Mount St Mary's Alumni activated a new web-enabled network to unite and benefit Former Pupils.  Over 1,100 are now registered on the system and the numbers are increasing every day.

webALUMNUS

In April 2003 we put the Mount Alumni database on-line, making it accessible via the Internet.  The system supporting this is called webALUMNUS, a powerful membership management facility developed by Abattia, a London-based, specialist software company.

We expect webALUMNUS to deliver real value to those of you wanting to take advantage of this facility.  Wherever you happen to be, webALUMNUS will be available over the Internet to give you another way to communicate and interact with us and with each other.

From the minute you register with the on-line network, you will be able to:

· Maintain contact with other Former Pupils via the on-line Who's Who and via a personal e-mail address that remains the same, no matter how often you move location or change other e-mail addresses.

· Ensure that details about you are accurate, appropriate and completely up to date - just by spending a few minutes on the Internet each year.

· Keep informed about Mount St Mary's news, events and issues relating to the College and Alumni immediately they arise.

· Manage and report on your own events and activities.

· Benefit from an expansive network of Former Pupil professional and business contacts with whom you share a common school heritage.

· Share your knowledge, skills and advice with current and future generations of Mount pupils seeking university information, career guidance or work experience.

· You will get a unique username and password.

· webALUMNUS incorporates Abattia's ground-breaking data privacy technology, the Consensus Wrapper (patent pending).  The Consensus Wrapper enables us to offer you a secure service according to your preferences for the disclosure and use of your personal data, while allowing us to comply with privacy regulations.

· The system will protect your rights over the data it holds about you.  You will be able to control what data is held on the system, and whether this data is visible to other users.  The webALUMNUS system will ensure that we handle your personal data in the way that you specify.

· webALUMNUS keeps track of how, and by whom, it is used. When signing on for the first time, all users must agree to clearly stated terms of use, which are monitored and strictly enforced.

· The system will operate from dedicated servers protected by an industry-strength 'firewall', which will be monitored continuously.

· Your data will not be lost - a regular backup regime will be in place.

· The system will be lodged in a secure, fireproofed and security guarded installation.

The system launched in April 2003, and is available to all Former Pupils with access to the Internet.

If you wish to take advantage of this facility, register NOW by following these simple steps:

1 Connect to the Internet, and visit www.msmcollege.com using a standard web browser.

2 Follow the link to web page for Former Pupils, and then to "Mount St Mary's Alumni Reconnected!". Please note that you do not need to put in your username and password here. Just click on the "new Users Register Here" Link.

3 Where prompted, complete the on-line questions that will allow us to authenticate your identity.

4 Where prompted, enter a current e-mail address that we can use to notify you of your unique username and password.

5 When you have completed steps (1) to (4), press the UPDATE button. IMPORTANT! You will see a "thank you" display at the end of this process. If you do not see this, please repeat steps 1 to 5.

Registration Process

Successfully registered Former Pupils will receive an e-mail from us telling them of their unique username, password and Mount St Mary's Alumni e-mail address.  They will also receive instructions on how to use the system.

You will then be able to begin using the system to review any data that we might already hold on you, or use any of the other webALUMNUS features, including the on-line Who's Who directory.
