The school has a five bedded health centre, predominantly used for
the care of boarding pupils, though any day pupils who become unwell
during the day are also cared for there.
The health centre is staffed by a full-time qualified nurse who is resident within school and is able to be contacted
at all times during
term time.
The local doctors surgery provides medical advice/cover and all
boarding pupils are registered with the doctors at the practice
on entering the school. Pupils have access to a male or female doctor who visit the school on Mondays or Thursdays if required. Should a pupil need to be seen
prior to their next visit to the school then they will be taken
to the medical practice.
The nearest hospital with accident and emergency services is at
Chesterfield. The school nurse is always present during games lessons
and fixtures. Other medical services e.g. physiotherapy, dentist
etc are available in the local area and can be arranged via the
school nurse.
Mount St Mary's College complies with all the requirements of the
Children Act and enjoys a very good relationship with Derbyshire
Social Services who inspect the school's provision for boarding
and day pupils on a regular basis.
