When you board at Mount St Mary's, you really do have the best of both worlds. While some day pupils are already up and travelling to school, you can still be in bed. After a cooked breakfast in the refectory, you join all the other pupils to follow the day time routine of the school. Lessons finish at 4.30pm, and three times a week you must take part in activities or studies. On the other two days, you can do more activities, or relax in one of the boarders' common rooms. Dinner is served at 6pm in the refectory, a chance to catch up with all your friends and find out about their day.
On weekday evenings, boarders have homework to do, as do all the day pupils. If you are in Grammar (Year10) or below, you do your studies in the library, with a teacher to supervise and help you. Older pupils can study in bedrooms or in the ICT suite, but again a teacher will check that you are getting through your studies. Afterwards, you can relax and enjoy some free time with the other boarders. There is a tuck shop every evening, and supper in the houses.
