The Bad Beginning

One of our own pupils wrote the script for the Mount Junior Drama Society's annual production in March 2008. The original and witty script was written by Kieran Sockett (Rudiments) and was based on “The Bad Beginning”, the first book in Lemony Snickett’s highly popular “A Series of Unfortunate Events”.  The large cast was led by Alex Treece who played a spine chilling Count Olaf, Ella Watts as the ever resourceful  Violet, Kieran himself as the spirited Klaus, while Jasmine Legdon captured the audience’s hearts as the infant Sunny.   The play nicely captured the black humour of the books and showed off the emerging talent in the Lower School.

Blithe Spirit

The Mount Drama Society's production in February 2008 was Noel Coward's famous play "Blithe Spirit".  Pupils, under the guidance of Mrs Marion Greene and her assistant Richard Duggan (Syntax), moved the play's action to the swinging sixties and transformed the theatre into a psychedelic haze of confusion.  Byron Massarella gave an excellent performance as Charles Condomine, living with his newlywed wife (Danielle Desloges) but constantly troubled by his deceased wife (Fiona James). Richard Duggan lived up to the part of Madame Arcati, the mad psychic, causing havoc and creating much humour for the audience.
