SCHOLARSHIPS
 

Scholarships are awarded at the main entry levels 11+ (Elements), 13+ (Rudiments) and Sixth Form (Poetry). Scholarships are awarded on merit alone in the fields of academic, music, art or sporting excellence, or an "all round" combination of some of these.

11+ SCHOLARSHIPS
 
Academic: based on the top performance in the Entrance Examination held in February each year. Candidates are also interviewed by the Headmaster.

Music awards:  Mount St Mary's belongs to the MMA scheme - candidates should have reached a minimum standard of Grade 3 on their main instrument. Two instruments or one with singing should be offered.

13+ SCHOLARSHIPS
 
Academic: External Candidates sit the HMC Common Scholarship Examination in February/March. Internal candidates may be considered for an award at the end of Figures (Yr8).

Music: Candidates should have reached a minimum standard grade 5 on their main instrument. Two instruments or one with singing should be offered.

All round awards: for Art/Sport/Drama. External candidates must apply through their preparatory school in February/March. Internal awards are made at the end of the academic year.

SIXTH FORM SCHOLARSHIPS
 
Academic: Awards are made on the basis of predicted and actual GCSE grades.

Music: Candidates should have reached a minimum standard of Grade 7 on their main instrument. Two instruments should be offered, or one with singing.

Sports Scholarship: a number of awards are made to candidates of promise and potential in the area of sport.

BURSARIES
 
Bursaries are awarded to candidates on the basis of financial need. Bursaries are awarded at whatever entry level. The value of the bursaries depends on the financial circumstances of the family.
