UPPER SCHOOL

The Upper School is the highlight of a pupil's school career, serving as a bridge between school and university.  We seek to allow all students to develop the independence and skills necessary for the move into university and adult life, whilst also building on the fine traditions of academic excellence at the College.  We offer a wide variety of subjects in the Upper School, reinforcing teaching with regular assessment and target setting.  Students also benefit from the warmth and individual attention that is possible in an environment where small teaching and tutor groups are a hallmark.

Although achieving the best possible academic results is a priority, we are also keen that students develop in all areas of activity.  Pupils are given the opportunity to acquire greater levels of individual responsibility and initiative, not least through the self discipline necessary to secure academic success.  The relatively small size of the sixth form allows many to develop leadership roles and responsibilities, be it as School Captains, in the CCF or through helping to run an extra-curricular activity.

The mature, confident and committed men and women who leave the College after their sixth form studies are the best testament to the qualities of education at the Mount.  They have developed academically and also emotionally, personally and spiritually.  They are ready to succeed in the next stage of their lives, ready to act, according to Jesuit principles, for others.
